enPuls 2.0 is ideal as a system for radial shockwave therapy, for superficial orthopedic problems such as:
- Insertion tendinopathy
- Tendon problems
- Chronic inflammation
- Hypertonic muscle systems
- Myofascial syndromes
- Hemotoma treatments
softshot – impulse

en Puls Version 2.0 uses a relatively heavy projectile and a comparatively low impact speed to generate a special shock wave – the en Puls Version 2.0 “softshot” shock wave.
The energy is essentially carried by the volume of the pulse and not by the high amplitude and the extremely short rise, as in comparable compressed air devices.
It is assumed that the shock waves generated by compressed air-operated radial shock wave devices with rise times of approximately 3.5 µs and the typically used energy settings pass through the tissue without a change in the shape of the emitted wave, since the load lies within the inertia and elastic moduli of the tissue passed through.
Unlike focused shock waves with rise times of less than 100 ns, which result in a deliberate steepening of the wave in the tissue with subsequent cavitation and tissue destruction, with radial shock waves it is not the potentiating effect but only the amount of energy that triggers the reactive processes.
Due to the slower rise of the wave (approx. 13.5 µs) and the significantly lower peak amplitude, Puls Version 2.0 avoids the typical “whip-like” feeling of the shock wave and is therefore better tolerated by patients.
Energy quantities – pressure comparison
In complex laboratory tests, it was measured in direct comparison that the Puls 2.0 , at the energy settings, releases comparable kinetic energy via the applicator as a compressed air-operated system, in which the accelerating air pressure on the projectile is usually used as a dose indicator.
The correspondence is shown in the following table
| enPuls Version 2.0 |
Compressed air RSWT system |
| 60 mJ |
1 bar |
| 90 mJ |
2 bar |
| 120 mJ |
3 bar |
| 185 mJ |
5 bar |
Since the release of kinetic energy into the tissue occurs via comparably sized applicators, the commonly used units such as mJ/mm² (energy density) can also be used, as they are in absolute relation.
Dose information from treatment protocols can thus be implemented 1:1
Low maintenance and longevity
Due to the special technology of the en Puls 2.0 and the “softshot” shock wave, the system has the lowest maintenance costs and the longest service life of the handpiece or shock wave generator compared to other compressed air systems.
Zimmer MedizinSysteme provides a minimum warranty of 2,000,000 shocks per generator, which corresponds to approximately 1,000 treatments. The generator only needs to be replaced when a significant reduction in performance (reduced shock severity, interrupted shocks, etc.) occurs. This usually only occurs long after the minimum warranty number of shocks has been exceeded.
